While casting about for feel-good stories, we remembered the lost and starving Magellanic penguins that were airlifted to safety by the Brazilian army last fall. The young penguins, whose home is in the southern Atlantic, had wandered too far north, washing up on the warm beaches of Brazil by the hundreds, and the situation looked grim when "animal-welfare activists loaded the birds onto a Brazilian air force cargo plane and flew them 1,550 miles to the country's southern coast, where a crowd of onlookers celebrated as the penguins marched back into the sea." Definite feel-good material.
Hard Rock Hotel This hotel within the Universal complex offers much for families, including kid suites and a sandy bottom pool with a waterslide. Disney's Yacht Club Disney's Yacht and Beach Club are sister resorts located a short walk from Epcot's World Showcase. Many consider the pool area (Stormalong Bay), with its shipwreck theming, huge water slide and sandy bottom pool to be the best of any Disney resort. A boat services Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios theme parks (buses are available for transportation to the other parks). Restaurants and entertainment at the Boardwalk are also conveniently close by.
